Introduction

I had the pleasure to be invited to the Mercedes-Benz 2018 E-Class Coupe Press Drive in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia organized by Mercedes Benz USA. During 2 days I drove the new E 400 Coupe for several hours and in very different type of roads. Through the city of Vancouver, and through hills and mountains in the ski resort of Whistler, British Columbia.  As I learned more about the new 2018 E 400, and I drive it, I start to fall in love with this coupe. Mercedes Benz name this car as having a  “clear and sensual design” something that I must definitely agree with. It is a beautiful coupe, definitely a work of art.

Mercedes Benz Coupe

In 1968, Mercedes-Benz presented the first Coupe version of the medium-class model series. Nowadays the Coupe, as an exclusive and sporty model family, today we can look back on almost fifty-years of history and evolution of the coupe.

The first Coupe models 250 C and 250 CE were generally known as the “stroke/eight” Coupes. Stroke 8 Coupes, the first coupes in the upper mid-range to be built by Mercedes-Benz became a legend in the upper mid-range automobile category.

The main concept and design of the new coupe models, was closely inspired by the sedan models by which they were founded. The Coupes had the same suspension, power train and floor assembly as the model 250 sedan, even the body of the two versions was the same as the A-pillars. There were clear differences from the A-pillars to the rear: The Coupe had two doors, a more angled windscreen and 1.8-in lower roof than the sedan. Though it was almost 50 years ago, the front and rear side windows have already been frameless and fully retractable.

In 2018 the E-Class family welcomes the new E-Class Coupe. It will impress Mercedes Benz fans with a powerful and efficient 3.0L V6 biturbo engine, emphatic proportions, pure, sensual design and great convenience for four passengers. The new E-Class Coupe reflects the beauty and classic dignity of a grand tourer with state-of-the-art technology.

The new E-Class Coupe’s design emphasizes contemporary luxury, reflecting the concept of the premium brand. It is significantly longer, wider and higher than its predecessor coupe, improving spaciousness and comfort in the rear. It also has more legroom in the rear, providing comfort for all passengers during a long trip.

This model is very special with its sensuous and luxurious interior. It includes air vents in a new modern and retro turbine look, the vents look like the turbine engines of an airplane going a unique look to the dashboard of this new E coupe. Many new features new designed interior packages and two new trims with matching center consoles. The rear taillamps have a new welcoming light effect and all-new crystal look, it is very shinny and bright, a very cool look unique on the new E400 coupe 2018.

The new 2018 E400 coupe will be available now in the summer of 2017, and later after the summer Mercedes will give us a bonus, a cabriolet, we will keep our eyes open for such new interesting car.

Exterior

The Coupe proportions traditional of Mercedes-Benz are distinguished with a special front end with low-positioned grille and central star, a long hood with power domes, and a strong rear-end. The dynamic looks are stressed by four frameless, fully retractile side windows and invisible B-pillar. With these pure forms, the design of the Coupe delivers an air of luxury and individual style.

Conclusion

The new E-Class 400 Coupe features all the intelligent innovations of the E-Class Sedan.
