2023 Genesis Electrified G80
The new trend is for automakers to commit to a future with all-electric cars, including the luxury brand Genesis which is producing the mid-size Genesis electrified G80 with a highly competent EV engine and keeping the luxury premium style that is making Genesis surpass its competitors.
282 Miles of Range and 365 HorsePower make the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 one of the automobiles of the future. But let’s forget for a moment all the innovative features and electric powerful engine, this is a Genesis car and is just amazingly beautiful from front to end, inside and outside you can smell luxury everywhere.
The base price of $79K for the G80 is low compared to competitors like the Tesla Model S priced at around $110K, or the Mercedes-Benz EQS450 at $103K. The low pricing of Genesis doesn’t mean less quality or fewer features, you get tons of value and premium, and you will be surprised by how luxurious is the G80 and how well performs on the road.
Driving the G80 Electrified you can experience the all-electric evolution of a midsize luxury sedan, fusing innovative design and inspiring performance that will impress any driver from the moment you see the G80 waiting in the parking lot. Genesis designed the G80 platform to support full electrification, it can accommodate not only an 87.2-kilowatt-hour battery pack but also an 800-volt charging architecture.
The Electrified G80 is an impressive automobile, and it is the perfect balance of athletic and elegant design, strong and beautiful. This electric car continues solidifying Genesis as a powerful presence in the era of electrification in the EV market.
One of the best highlights of the design of the G80 is the electric’s sleek closed grille, neatly concealing a charging port just off-center on the driver’s side. Its maximum charge rate of 187 kW allows the G80’s battery to go from a 10% state of charge to 80% in 22 minutes, something unusual, which is too fast for the present time.
2023 G80 Electric Only One Trim Model
At the present time, there is only one trim model available for the 2023 Genesis G80. The G80 is powered by an electrified dual motor AWD 272 KW with a 365-horsepower engine. This all-electric luxury sedan includes a beautiful and large 12.3″ 3D Digital Instrument Cluster and the starting price for the 2023 models is $79,825 MSRP. It is not a cheap car, but when you compare it with its competitors priced around 20% higher.
It will be interesting to see how Genesis develops more the G80 and offers more trim models in the future.
Performance
The G80 accelerates briskly. Midrange power is ample, making overtaking maneuvers a breeze, and there are no weird sounds to accompany the experience, which is unlike the nature of the gas-powered G80.
The dual motor configuration produces a very powerful 365 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. There’s an 87.2 kWh battery pack in the car’s floor providing up to 282 miles of range per charge. The Electrified G80 comes standard with a rear wheel steer system and brings direct transmission front and rear.
Driving the G80 Electrified you can feel the added weight of the electric powertrain, an additional 585 pounds compared to the G80 Sport, but the 19-inch wheels and all-season tires do an adequate job of mitigating uneven pavement to keep the ride smooth.
The steering is heavy and precise in action, and you feel in total control of this sedan. It has several driver-selectable levels of regenerative braking, which are easy to modulate and help efficiency.
The electrified G80 is a compelling vehicle that drives almost identically to the gas-powered model, with a comfortable interior and competitive driving range. Besides efficiency one of the advantages of the G80 Electrified is how quiet it is, making the ride so soft like flying on clouds.
interior style
One of the best parts of the Electrified G80 is its luxurious interior, it comes only in one model, fully loaded, decked out in soft leather upholstery, and attractive wood accents that make you wow when you enter the cabin. Rear legroom is comparable to other sedans with a regular midsize. Smooth leather surfaces are accented with knurled metal dials. The plush front seats are heated and cooled and have massage and posture correction functions to help you enjoy the ride even more.
The underfloor battery pack raises the seating position, with a nearly 3-inch reduction in rear-passenger headroom. The rear electric motor’s location reduces trunk space, reducing the G80’s cargo capacity from 13.1 cubic feet to 10.8 which is normal for a mid-size vehicle but is something to keep in mind when buying electric versus regular gas cars.
The G80 features a premium navigation system of very high quality and features, with a 14.5″ HD Screen, Wireless Device Charging, and Remote Smart Parking Assist, the Electrified G80 delivers a multifaceted driving experience beyond your expectations, I am very impressed with this new Genesis.
Technology & Safety
The new 2023 G80 Genesis includes a bright reconfigurable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, which sits in front of the driver, as is a heads-up display, and there’s a 14.5-inch center touchscreen that runs the same high-quality infotainment software you will find in other Genesis models.
The G80 includes standard safety features like anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, lane-departure rear cross-traffic alert systems, blind spots, a pre-collision warning, and readiness system with sensors-adapted cruise control, front airbags and rear, side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
Highly intuitive safety features like Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Driver Attention Warning are standard on the G80
Free 3 Years of Charging
Buyers of the Genesis Electrified G80 will enjoy three years of complimentary 30-minute DC fast charging sessions from Electrify America charging stations around the country.
Jumping from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes is a very good time rate compared to most electric cars. The Electrified G80’s high-capacity battery also supports Vehicle-to-Load Charging (V2L), allowing you to use a 110V outlet to power items like a laptop or small home appliances.
