2025 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV Special Edition AWD Sedan

Written by Marco Carvajal

The new 2025 Nissan Altima is a midsize sports sedan with exceptional fuel efficiency and a powerful Turbo engine; this attractive sporty-styled sedan has been re-designed to impress your neighbors and friends without leaving your wallet empty.

The name Altima comes from the Latin word “altus,” which translates to English as “high”, meaning that the Nissan Altima is a high-end vehicle.

The base price of $27,000 offers great value and several standard new features. Altima buyers can also lease a new 2025 Altima when this article was written for $299 per month for 39 months with a downpayment of around $3K.

Some of the new features added to the Altima include AWD, safety tech, effortless connectivity, and very attractive sporty styling.

New for 2025, the Altima SV Special Edition trim model I am test-driving features exterior upgrades, a 12.3-inch HD color display, a wireless phone charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto.

The look of the new SV Special Edition is enhanced with gloss black wheels, rear spoiler, and carbon fiber-look center console trim.

Nissan Maintenance Care program includes three prepaid oil changes and free multi-point inspections for 2025 Altima drivers, saving you dollars in maintenance.

The Altima has been manufactured by Nissan for more than 30 years, since 1992. This mid-size sedan is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line which started back in 1955.

The Nissan Altima received a full makeover two years ago with the 2023 model year, featuring new front-end styling, expanded standard safety features, and available technologies, along with new wheel designs and more features.

Part of the updates of the new Altima includes a new front fascia, featuring an updated expression of Nissan’s V-Motion grille with a distinctively sporty design and adopting the brand’s redesigned logo.

Now the 2025 version continues adding features and modernizing the Altima with more enhancements.

The original design for the new SV Special Edition package includes sporty gloss black wheels, a rear spoiler, and a very attractive carbon fiber-look center console trim.

The top-of-the-line SL trim model offers a premium experience with unique 19-inch alloy wheels, chrome outside door handles, dark teak wood grain patterned instrument panel trim, leather-appointed seats, and a Bose Premium Sound System with 9 speakers.

Tech

The Altima keeps adding more features and technology like Intuitive entertainment with a standard 8-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

An optional 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhances entertainment on this larger screen.

Drivers can monitor their vehicle’s tire pressures easily with class-exclusive Easy-Fill Tire Alert, helping take the pressure out of maintaining proper tire inflation.

Available Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, SiriusXM, Bose Premium Audio, and more connectivity features make the new Altima modern and very competitive.

Safety and driver assistance

I enjoy safety features like the standard Nissan Safety Shield 3604, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Automatic Braking.

Park easily with the Intelligent Around View Monitor available on the top-of-the-line SL trim model.

If you would like a pro helping hand for steering, acceleration, and braking on highways then you can enjoy the premium feature ProPILOT Assist, standard on the SL, and available on the Nissan Altima SV.

Performance

The standard 2.5-liter direct-injection engine helps the Altima produce responsive power with up to 188 horsepower, but besides this good power, this sedan comes with high efficiency of up to 39 MPG on the highway which is a great advantage for budget-conscious drivers.

Enjoy more confidence and control in varied weather with the available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
The Altima SR enhances driving with the added performance of sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, 19-inch wheels, and paddle shifters.

The Independent rear suspension features monotube rear shocks, confident handling, and stability. Added suspension reinforcements and increased damper-mounting stiffness enhance the Altima’s response without impacting ride harshness

Some of the competitors of the Nissan Altima are the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Mazda 6, Hyundai Sonata, Subaru Legacy, and Kia K5 among other midsize sedans.

Pricing is an important factor when comparing the Altima to its competitors, and that is where the Subaru Legacy can compete hard with the Altima, offering a lower base price starting at around $25K. In contrast, Kia and Hyundai offer very similar base prices, nearly $27K, and Toyota offers a higher price, close to $29K, but with the advantage of hybrid technology.
