Volkswagen Taos
After I arrived at Miami Airport and picked up the Volkswagen Taos, I felt that the Taos was perfectly designed especially for my trip needs. The Taos is not too big and not too small but the cargo space is large compared to other similar compact SUVs or sedans, and the cute modern design of the Taos matches well with Miami’s trendy fashion style, especially the Taos that I am driving in a light bright blue color.
Traveling is fun and it brings a lot of pleasure and relaxing experiences. It is nice to travel to new destinations and discover a place where we have never been before. As I travel to one of my favorite destinations and also my former home, Miami, I enjoy riding on the new Taos, a fun and compact SUV that is bigger than you think. The Taos is bright and beautiful, and you can buy it for a low price, starting at $24K.
When traveling to Miami we automatically think about having a nice ride in a fancy expensive car and fancy clothes on Miami Beach. Even if the Taos is not an expensive car, its design is really attractive and goes well with Miami’s atmosphere.
Travel to Miami to Drive the Taos
Just as much as we can dream of the perfect trip to our favorite destination, traveling can be very challenging if we don’t have the right elements to enjoy our trip, like a good hotel in a convenient location, or it can even be more important for some of us to have the right car with the right interior space and enough cargo space for our luggage.
As I planned one of my recent trips went from my house in Palm Coast, Florida to Costa Rica, New York, and then to Miami. Selecting the right car for each destination was very important.
I have brought my three daughters to travel to Costa Rica and Miami. Traveling with my three girls who are a little bit fashionistas can be challenging as there is never enough space in the car for all our large suitcases and carry-on suitcases, especially when we travel during several days, everybody wants to bring the whole closet in their suitcase, so I was a little concerned about being able to fit all our suitcases in the Taos.
During my recent solo trip to New York, I drove the spacious and very comfortable Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, where I had more than enough cargo space, and also more space on the second and third row of the Atlas, but on my next destination flying from to Costa Rica and to Miami, traveling with my three girls, our luggage was a lot and my car was the compact SUV Taos.
Our Miami car, the Volkswagen Taos, seems to be much smaller than the Volkswagen Atlas I drove recently in New York, but the Taos surprised me and it was much better than I expected.
My first thoughts about the Taos was that there was not going to be enough space for all our luggage and the four of us, and I had a backup plan to call a friend who lives near Miami airport to ask her to hold a few of my suitcases for a few days. But the Taos surprised me, as I was able to bring all our large suitcases, carry-on bags, and backpacks onboard inside the Taos, and have a nice ride around Miami and then drive north to Palm Coast, Florida my home.
The Volkswagen Taos is one of the most practical compact SUVs you can find in the market for five passengers. Don’t get deceived by its segment of compact SUVs, as the Taos is bigger than it looks. It has large cargo space for a compact SUV and good legroom in the second row.
The Taos was named “Best City SUV” in Parents 2022 Best Family Cars shopping guide.
Optimized Space Distribution
The Taos is like a magic box and its compact size not only gets bigger when traveling, but is also very convenient for shopping for your groceries, bringing friends alone, and fitting on-street parking.
The space for the driver is not too big but is enough for the segment, and it gets bigger as we go into the second row, three people can fit well with enough legroom. It is pretty big for a compact SUV.
The key to its large space is how Volkswagen engineers and designers have been able to design the best space distribution you can find in an SUV.
The most impressive aspect of the Taos optimized space distribution is its cargo space. I drove with 3 children, 4 large suitcases, 4 carry-on, and a couple of backpacks from Miami to Palm Coast, Florida, as we were returning from our trip from Costa Rica to Florida. I was lucky enough as everything fit perfectly inside the Taos.
Good Performance at 158 Horsepower
The small Taos is also more powerful than you think and has off-road capabilities. It has a good engine with 4Motion, all-wheel drive, to distribute its power between the four wheels and let you drive in different types of weather and road conditions.
Its turbo engine produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, is very fast and strong for a compact SUV.
Completing good performance results, the Taos engine includes a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission with dual clutch.
Four Driving Modes
The Taos includes four different driving modes to accommodate to different off-road and weather conditions.
- Snow Mode
- On-Road Mode
- Off-Road Mode
- Off-Road Custom Mode
This is amazing, that a compact SUV like the Taos includes 4 different driving modes that can work powerfully in connection with its engine’s 4Motion active control.
Very Attractive Design
The Taos has a very cute design and style, it is very attractive, and the blue color model I had looks just great. It looks like a small Atlas, but even if the Atlas is much bigger you will be able to fit about 80% of the luggage in the Taos, which for me is very impressive and makes it an ideal car to travel.
Good Fuel Economy, Drive and Save with 28 MPG City and 36 MPG Highway
Driving the Taos not only saves your budget on its low purchase price of around $24K starting MSRP but also it gives you a very nice range of fuel for each gallon of gas, 28 MPG city, and 36 MPG highway.
For the trip I am doing from Miami to Palm Coast, having a good fuel economy is perfect for my budget. I hate to drive and see that the gas runs out quickly, especially with the current high prices for gas, so having this low fuel economy makes the trip more relaxing and fun without having to think about gas, just drive and enjoy.
Infotainment
One of the elements where I can see improvement in future Taos is its infotainment. The interface looks good, but an upgraded system with higher quality graphics and definition could enhance the Taos, and would definitely complete the beauty and practicality of the Taos.
Besides the look of the Infotainment, it includes a lot of good functions and features to put Volkswagen technology there for you.
The Digital Cockpit includes Remote and Connected Features. Good Sound and Audio with the available Beats Audio. App-Connect gives you the option to add many apps that can be displayed on your touchscreen display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhance the possibilities.
Taos is a Great Car to Drive Through Big Cities
If you are traveling to Europe, New York, Sao Paulo Brazil, or another large congested city, the Taos can be better than any large SUV, because its compact size will let you maneuver, drive, and park easily on the small streets of Paris, or Rome, but its large cargo space and cute design will make your trip easy and practical. A large SUV in big congested cities is not too practical so the Taos can be your hero, just as it became my hero driving in Miami.
Travel with the VW Taos is more fun and practical than with other compact SUVs, enjoying its large cargo space is very convenient for long trips to big cities
