The transnational corporation STELLANTIS is a new group formed from the merger of two car companies, the PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The companies formally teamed up to create Stellantis, bringing together 14 automotive brands worldwide, including Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Citroën.

STELLANTIS comes from the Latin verb “stello”, which means “to shine with the stars.” FCA and PSA Group completed the merger, which was announced in 2020. As a result, Stellantis has become the fourth-largest automaker in the world in terms of sales.
The merger will allow the two companies to reduce research and development costs, especially as the companies move towards automotive electrification.
The process of determining a new name began shortly after the Unification Agreement was announced. The senior management of both companies was actively involved with the support of the Publicis Group.
The name STELLANTIS
The name STELLANTIS will be used exclusively as a corporate brand. The next step in this process will be the opening of the logo, which together with the name will become the corporate identity of the brand. Brand names and logos will remain unchanged.
Stellantis will be headquartered in Amsterdam with operations centers in France, Italy, and the United States. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares – former PSA CEO – said at a press conference that the merger will allow the two companies to join forces to create “high-performance” siblings.
The focus of the new company is on electrification and the number of electrified vehicles in its lineup. Stellantis currently has 29 electrified vehicles on the market, including both all-electric and hybrid vehicles, and will offer 39 by the end of 2021.
The goal is that by 2025, Stellantis will create “one electrified model for each new global model.” The company announced this at a press conference.
